The little speaker that could!

I purchased two pair's of the SQST-1 for a decent price, I own a 1989 GW Invader 2 seater.
When the speakers arrived, I looked at the size of them and thought, Ive been had... They are about the size of a pack of cigarettes with a beefy 2" midwoofer and 1" tweeter.. I almost boxed them back up and shipped them back to the dealer but...I was drawn by my inquizitive nature to just give them a chance to impress me. Honestly I expected nothing in the respect to sound quality. I was dead wrong!
My boat by design is acoustically a little Bass tube, The invader is 10 feet long, overpowered with a huge outboard and about 2 feet from top to bottom. My objective was to install a sound system small and light enough to provide entertainment while cruising the lake, be inexpensive, take up little to no precious dash space, and be punchy enough to hear while underway.
I opted for a Jensen MS-30 a small round 3.5" receiver with native MP3/WMA USB capability, 40*4 with pre-amp out and zero draw memory.
Teamed with these speakers with no amp, I achived my goal, regardless how the manufacturer markets these as a "surround" enhancement speaker.
The acoustics of the hull enhance the bass enough to be non intrusive and obnoxious and the system sounds crisp and clean. I am indeed impressed since I was not able to find a objective review on this product. For my needs they meet expectations, and later if I decide I need something louder and wilder, they will be re-commissioned as my enhancement speakers. In the mean time.. Im happy as-is.
